Why? Well, it is truly pocket size, just a little bigger than a credit card. It also produces excellent translations of the many meanings of the Spanish or English words you might look for; when relevant, it points out the difference between UK and USA meanings, as well as between expressions used in Spain and those of Latin America.
However, I must admit that the Franklin does just as good a job on this score. BUT.... the Franklin is more expensive AND..... it does not present any indication of the pronunciation of the words in English. This may not be important to you the English Speaker but it is a sign of the seriousness of the Oxford England dictionary that the little electronic unit is based on. It gives the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) symbols for the English words.
